Celebrating My Results In Spain

We had been wanting to go abroad for years now, and finally the holiday had come. We were going to La Manga - the little strip that comes down off of Spain. The only bad thing was that whilst I was there I would miss out on the GCSE results day, but fortunately I had a friend I trusted enough to pick them up for me and read them out on the phone. It felt like I had honestly been waiting all day, even though it was only two hours since I had woken up. The call came, I was extremely happy and excited to celebrate. We had been there for around 5 days when we then travelled to go see my step fathers friend, Tim, up in Murcia which was a couple of hours drive. We would be there for a couple of days and I knew I would be celebrating here...

When we eventually arrived the heat instantly hit me (it was quite a bit hotter than where we had been staying - even though I felt like it couldn't get any hotter). In my head I was having an internal debate as to whether I could ever live here in Spain, eventually coming to the conclusion that I couldn't, as I prefer my life when I'm not actually sweating.

We were greeted, shown around and we had settled in in no time. Tim had built his own house all himself; and it was seriously impressive. He shared his home with his girlfriend and two dogs, both of which I wish I could of taken on the plane home. It honestly felt like paradise to me; once I was more at terms with the heat I was happy to sunbathe, eat grapes and ice cream for hours on end, undisturbed. Also, they had their own private pool which was amazing - even their own massive inflatables, like a big donut watermelon or a typical lilo to lounge on in the sun. This pool would be later used for my midnight swim which was again, amazing. Obviously I was trying my best to get a sun tan, what else do you go abroad for?

Later that night, we were all talking and drinking (not too much though) after my younger sister had gone to sleep. There was an outside kitchen which I loved, the only disadvantage being all the flies whenever it actually came to eating at meal time. This included an outside stove, which we had been barbecuing meat on all day long. Normally the tradition when you've had some to drink is to get a kebab - well I tell you I much prefer grilling a chicken thigh and then smothering it in a homemade garlic paste.

The celebrators included me, my mum, my step dad, Tim and his girlfriend and of course his two dogs. Overall this weekend was the best, I felt so happy to be celebrating with these people and trying out new things.
